Communications Coordinator Full-Time; Exempt Status Reports to: Director of Marketing + Communications A valuable member of our collaborative organization, the Communications Coordinator supports promotional efforts across all divisions of Waterville Creates (WC), including the Waterville Opera House (WOH), Maine Film Center (MFC), and Ticonic Gallery + Studios (TGS).

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing + Communications and working very closely with the Marketing + Development Coordinator and all programming staff, the Coordinator actively, enthusiastically, and creatively promotes all of WC’s roughly 700 programs and events per year, while also raising the profile of Waterville as a destination for arts and culture. The successful candidate must balance a high volume of diverse content in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality control. Essential Duties/Responsibilities      Works with the Director of Marketing + Communications to develop and implement strategies to promote WC’s, and by extension WOH, MFC, and TGS’s programming and organizational initiatives. Collaborates with marketing and programming staff to develop engaging content that resonates across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, producing around 30 posts a week. Develops, distributes, and provides analysis for 4–5 weekly and monthly e-newsletters. Daily e-newsletters, social media, and on-site coverage increases throughout the Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) in July. Coordinates paid social media advertising for WC, WOH, MFC, and TGS programs and events. Maintains WC’s branding standards in all advertising and marketing efforts. Seeks opportunities to capture and share content that demonstrates the impact and community engagement of WC programs and events in real time. Serves as a WC brand ambassador with high energy and enthusiasm, fearlessly tackling creative projects not limited to: hosting guests on camera, highlighting artists and performers in exciting ways, connecting with patrons at programs, and more. Generates regular, detailed reports on email and social media statistics. Maintains current database of press contacts. Distributes press releases. Helps maintain institutional archive with photos, advertisements, promotional materials, news articles, print collateral, etc. Serves as a community liaison and assists with promotion of partner events. Provides event support as needed at WC sponsored events, including Waterville Rocks, MIFF, WOH productions, and Ticonic Gallery exhibitions. Assists with administrative duties and special projects as required, as well as performs all other related duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements   Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as outstanding copywriting and proofreading skills. Exceptional organizational and project management skills, as well as strong attention to detail. Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Enthusiastic, flexible, and positive demeanor; creative problem solver and collaborative team player. Firm grasp on various marketing platforms, channels, and best practices, including social, digital, and email marketing. Must have strong analytical skills to analyze metrics and create reports. Must have a high level of creativity. Passion for and dedication to arts and culture, artists, and community initiatives. Must be able to attend evening and weekend events as required, particularly for the purpose of generating social media content. Must be proficient with Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter). Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and TikTok a plus. Criminal background check required.
