Hunting — Maine boasts of 600 or more 200-pound bucks tagged each November. Bear hunting is the best in the east and the state offers a fall moose season unmatched in hunter success anywhere in the nation.

Fishing — Fishing opportunities are abundant with nearly 1 million fish stocked in open water annually. Mid-Maine fish include: brown trout, brook trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, landlocked salmon, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, splake, and northern pike. Licenses and regulation booklets are available at the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for hunting and recreational fishing on inland waters. Costs vary by class, purpose, and residency.
