Hunting — Maine boasts of 600 or more 200-pound bucks tagged each November. Bear hunting is the best in the east and the state offers a fall moose season unmatched in hunter success anywhere in the nation.

Wild Game Bird Hunting — Experience world-class hunting for wild turkey, ruffed grouse, pheasant, upland game, and waterfowl. Contact Silverton Sporting Ranch at (207) 399-3647, for upland hunting preserve, guide service.

Fishing — Fishing opportunities are abundant with nearly 1 million fish stocked in open water annually. Mid-Maine fish include: brown trout, brook trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, landlocked salmon, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, splake, and northern pike. Licenses and regulation booklets are available at the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for hunting and recreational fishing on inland waters. Costs vary by class, purpose, and residency.

Licenses are also available at municipal offices, fishing and hunting camps, and various sporting goods stores.
