The Sebasticook Regional Land Trust (SRLT) is a membership-supported conservation association working to conserve and restore the lands and waters of the Sebasticook River watershed in central Maine with programs in land conservation, habitat restoration and public education. We have conserved nearly 4,000 acres (26 properties) in fee or easement, including prime wildlife habitat with streams and wetlands that drain into major tributaries of the Sebasticook River.

SRLT focuses on conserving the working forests, farms, and wildlands of the region, working in collaboration with landowners, communities, and non-profit and government partners. The lands we conserve support farmers and foresters, hunters and fishers, nature enthusiasts, birdwatchers, among others - and the local businesses that support and/or rely on those activities. Our programs encourage people to come together as a community to learn about the fish and wildlife, woods and waterways, and natural resource-based activities that are inherent to the sense of this place in the world.  

SRLT owns 14 properties conserved for their working woodlands, agricultural and wild land values, and holds easements on 12 additional properties. A committed volunteer crew helps us meet our general stewardship obligations including recreational trail development and maintenance, invasive plant management, boundary marking, and easement monitoring. 

Our focus on working lands and wild lands reflects our understanding that working forests and farmlands are central to the economic and cultural heritage of rural communities in this region and can coexist with forever wild lands that sustain the region’s incredible biological diversity.
